I met Khamilia last year who stated that she was writing a book and wanted to share her story as compared to her profession. She is a Beautician and professional celebrity make-up artist. She explained that the concept of her book is to compare the application of make-up to her spiritual unfoldment and self-awareness of which I thought was and is a genius approach to self-reflection. Khamilia is transparent and genuine while sharing her past pains, generational influences, and personal fears and weaknesses. For example, I am sure that many of us can identify with being loved and cared for, ‘out loud,’ as she describes it. She explains that there were times when guys would like her and show kindness when no-one else was looking but in front of others, they would act mean towards her. When she says, “I will no longer accept being loved in secret. If you can’t love me ‘out loud,’ don’t love me at all!” Now, that’s powerful!!! Because there are so many of us who settle for love and affection from those who do not love and support us in the open. This can be from anyone…intimate relationships, family, work, etc…. She demands that after a life of the strategic healing of her ‘shadow self,’ she will no longer accept the crumbs of affection from others who will not display love for her openly.

Her name, Khamilia, is taken after the Camellia flower…isn’t it
beautiful! In China, the Camellia represents the union between two lovers. The delicately layered petals represent the woman, and the calyx (the green leafy part of the stem that holds the petals together) which represents the man who protects her. The ultimate ‘lovers’ in this book becomes the love she discovers and protects from within. This book is amazing and interactive. You will be able to take notes and write your thoughts along with her journey. You will also love and resonate with her journey. You will see yourself in this book, and you will see your own ‘shadows’ in her story…but you will also see how she made courageous efforts to heal and become whole. “KOVERED” speaks to the habit that many people have…to cover their true faces. Khamilia humbly admits that she covered her true self…giving the word ‘cover’ at one with her name, now becoming…’Kover’. After reading this, you too will have the courage to uncover your true face and cherish it eternally.
